Information regarding the upcoming season:

Cost:      $130 – Grades K-5 *

                $80 – Grades 6-8 *

* $50 ($35 buyout) HEWYBL Family Fundraiser fee applies - You only pay once per family if you participate in any of these sports offered - Wrestling/Flag Football/Basketball

Practice: Tuesdays and Thursdays starting November 27th from 6 pm – 7:30 pm. Season runs for a total of 3 months.

Location: Melvin H. Kreps Multi-Purpose Room (MPR)

Matches: Start the weekend of January 5-6 and will run until the end of February. Matches will be either Saturday or Sunday. We will know more once the Delaware River Wrestling League has been finalized.

Objective/Expectation: This is a developmental league which focuses on just that. Wrestlers should hover around a .500 win percentage which promotes knowing how to deal with winning and losing. Also, the coaches of the league wanted to make sure parents are aware that each kid can get anywhere from 3-5 matches per weekend. If not, there might be wrestlers who travel and not get a single match or wrestle his teammates, which they already do in practice.

Why are the cost different between the two age groups?

Great question, the cost is different because the league is attempting to attract more middle school wrestlers, who usually stop due to their middle school season commitment. HWC mission is to improve the youth wrestling in the area and doing both will do just that. HWC only practices 2x a week and wrestles matches on the weekends. There should not be much of a conflict but we will be working closely with the Kreps Head Coach to make sure everything works out. Also, we will not be buying singlets and head gears for those ages as they will utilize their Kreps singlets and head gear.

How long is the season?

The entire Winter 2018-19 season runs about 3 months. End of November – End of February.

Will there be a parent orientation?

Yes, we are attempting to host the orientation at the Melvin H. Kreps Multi-Purpose room on November 20th from 6 pm-7:30 pm. We will be rolling out the mats to go over some wrestling rules and voluntary expectations. We need parents to assist with score tables, concessions, etc. Finalized and additional details will be posted to our Facebook page soon.

Concussion Awareness Training

As many of you know, HEWYBL requires all coaches to take the Online Consussion Training offered by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).  We are now rolling this awareness program to parents/guardians of our youth athletes. Attached is a link for the Concussions Awareness Fact Sheet which all should review.  This Fact Sheet is also located in our Documents tab from the Home Page.  The Online Concussion Training is required for coaches and recommended for parents and others helping to keep athletes safe from concussion.  The free course takes only 30 minutes to complete and keeps our children safe.

Please review the documents below.  If you have accounts with TD Bank, starting Monday you should call Bridget Wiese and tell her your name and account numbers and HEWYBL will receive a donation every year.

If any other family, friends or business have TD Bank accounts, please provide our name to them and they can also have us affiliated with their accounts and we will receive a yearly donation.

If people want to open new accounts the bank will give them $25 and we will also get a donation every year.
